Hebrews 4:13: Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Sexual immorality is a term which covers a wide range of sinful sexual acts and tendencies. Many persons, much like my teenage self, may not have had sexual intercourse before marriage (fornication) but have succumbed to many other acts or thoughts of sexual immorality.
Sexual purity, likewise, represents not just the absence of tangible acts of sexual lust but also to have righteous and holy thoughts, emotions, and contained desires. We must understand then that sexual purity is a state achieved by fixing it both at the level of the source (thoughts or heart) and the level of expression or product (physical members).
Sexual purity is first a matter of the heart (Matthew 15:18-19). God’s plan to help you find the right path is also first a matter of the heart. It is important to recognize that God sees through us. He sees through every façade, every lie, every thought, even to the depths of our souls. He knows our thoughts before we think them! Yet still we so often try to hide from Him like Adam and Eve instead of coming to Him so He can clothe us the right way.
The journey to sexual purity starts with acknowledging, “Lord I am naked and open before your eyes and I need you to clothe me.” Today, your job is to consider that all the confessions you’ve made to God in prayer He already knew them. He was just waiting on you to reach out to His outstretched arms. Tomorrow, I’ll share a life-changing moment when I had this encounter with God. No matter how messed up the situation looks, He is waiting for you to come boldly to the throne of grace where you can find help in time of need.
Prayer StarterLord Jesus, your word reminds me that you know exactly how I feel. Lord as you died to set men free from sexual immorality, start to purify me in your blood as I confess everything you already know about.
